Businessman arrested for creating ruckus

Pune: A 32-year-old businessman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly misbehaving with people and policemen when asked to remove his car parked in the middle of the road at 1.30 am on Sunday in Koregaon Park Annexe. The police said he was under influence of alcohol.

The accused was identified as Rikin Tukaram Karne, a resident of Sahakarnagar. He runs a tour and travel business. Police Naik Abhijit Ugale lodged an FIR against him with Mundhwa police station.

According to the police, the incident took place between 1 am and 1.30 am opposite 1 Lounge on North Main Road. As there was a traffic jam on the road, a patrolling team of the Mundhwa police reached there.

Ugale stated in his complaint: “There was a traffic jam from Tadigutta Chowk to ABC Farms as he had blocked the road with his car in the middle. He was misbehaving with people. When we asked his name, he refused to answer saying: ‘Who are you to ask? You don’t know who I am?  When I asked him to sit in the car he caught my collar. We took him to the police station around 2 am. When asked about his name and address again, he threatened us of dire consequences saying his lawyer will tell his details. Will get you removed from job and destroy you, he said.”

A medical test was done at Sassoon Hospital where doctors reported that he was drunk. After that the police registered a case against him.

Senior Police Inspector Anil Patrudkar, in-charge of Mundhwa police station, told Sakal Times, “He was produced before the court which remanded him in one- day custody on Sunday. After expiry of custody we again produced him in court on Monday and he was remanded in magisterial custody and sent to Yerwada Central Jail. We are verifying if he has more cases in the past.”
