Bus overturns in Wakad; ten passengers injured

PUNE: Around 10 passengers travelling in a private bus were injured after the bus overturned on the road on Sunday morning on Dehu Road-Katraj route in Wakad. 

According to the police, the Kolhapur-bound bus with the number MH09 CV3697 was coming from Borivali in Mumbai. The mishap occurred when the driver lost control over the bus and it collided with the bridge on Mula river in Wakad. 

The injured passengers were rushed to a private hospital after the mishap and are under treatment. Judge of Belapur court Chandrashila Patil and her five-year-old daughter were among the injured persons. Both of them are critical. 

The police said that 30 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of incident. Ambulances were rushed to the spot immediately after the accident to save the injured  passengers. 

Police Inspector Shivaji Gavare of Hinjewadi Police Station said, “Around ten people got injured in the accident, out of which the condition of a passenger named Swara was the most critical. Nine victims are out of danger whereas the condition of Swara is still critical. It seems the driver lost control over the steering and rammed the bus into the railing of  the bridge. A case of negligence has been registered.”
