Pune: IT professionals travelling from Hinjawadi to Pune can look forward to a faster commute with the newly inaugurated bus lane to ease traffic congestion, a joint endeavour of Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA) and Pune traffic police. A bus lane has been created with 100 traffic barriers presented by HIA to traffic department on Wednesday.
The inauguration and deployment ceremony was attended by Ashok Morale, DCP (Traffic), Pune police and Anil Patwardhan, President, HIA with others dignitaries.
“The barricades deployed to create a corridor exclusively for use by buses during peak hours from 8 am to 11.30 am. This will help reduction of congestion on the road and contribute to the smoother flow of traffic. A permanent median is planned by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporations (MIDC) in the near future for this corridor, till then these barricades would be used for this purpose,” said Anil Patwardhan.
HIA also procured traffic cones and link chain which will be utilised to create an additional two-wheeler lane across the road only during the peak traffic hours in the morning. All these measures are being taken to make the commute faster and smoother for over 3.5 lakh employees and others travelling daily to Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park (RGIP), Hinjawadi.
Two years ago, HIA and MIDC had introduced the Metro Zip service to resolve the traffic and connectivity problems. However, the unwarranted logjams seem to have become an every day story, even after the bus service was started on the routes.
