A senior officer of World Bank and urban mobility expert Nupur Gupta, during a BRTS round table conference in May, suggested that elected members, as well as the officers of PCMC, need to be sensitised about the BRTS. Therefore, they must attend a workshop for the same.

PIMPRI: All elected members of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will attend a workshop on Bus Rapid Transit System at the Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport (CEPT) University in Ahmedabad. They will attend this workshop in three different groups. The expenditure of the tour will be made from the Global Environment Facility programme of the World Bank. The proposal was submitted to the Standing Committee on Wednesday.

After coming to power for the first time in PCMC, BJP is taking all elected members to Gujarat to take a lesson in urban planning. It seems BJP is looking forward to replicating the Gujarat Model in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

A senior officer of World Bank and urban mobility expert Nupur Gupta, during a BRTS round table conference in May, suggested that elected members, as well as the officers of PCMC, need to be sensitised about the BRTS. Therefore, they must attend a workshop for the same.

In accordance with this suggestion, Shivanand Swamy of CETP University sent an email to PCMC authorities for finalising the study tour. A two-and-a-half day workshop has been designed.

All the subjects included in the programme are related to the overall development of the city. This sensitisation programme is going to help Pimpri-Chinchwad tremendously, the proposal that is submitted to the Standing Committee stated.
