Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that the BRTS on this route will be launched for a period of two months as per the permission granted by the Bombay High Court. The necessary improvements in the service will be made subsequently, he told media persons.

The BRT terminal at Nigdi will also be inaugurated on Friday.
The 12.5-km long Dapodi-Nigdi BRT route will have 36 bus stops and a dedicated lane on each side.

The work for construction of the BRT route had commenced in January 2015. The work involved the construction of bus stand, dedicated lanes and signals. A social activist Himmat Jadhav had filed a writ petition in Bombay High Court, demanding that the BRT service be stayed until all safety measures are introduced on this route. The PCMC had conducted the road safety audit through the IIT, Povai, and submitted the audit report to the high court.

The Bombay High Court had recently allowed the PCMC to launch the BRT service on an experimental basis of two months.
The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited has already appointed security personnel at the BRT bus stops.
