Breach in Mutha canal; heavy water logging in areas near Dandekar bridge

There is no human casualty reported but lot of property damaged area nearby canal. For safety of people, Traffic department closed down adjacent roads to canal so there was huge traffic congestion occured in sinhagad road, Tilak road, Shastri road. 

PUNE: The breach of around 15 meters in the canal's wall occurred at around 11 am on Thursday, resulting lakhs of liters of water gushing into the localities such as Janata Vasahat, Dandekar bridge, and Sinhagad Road area, said sources from irrigation department. 

There is no human casualty reported but lot of property damaged area nearby canal. For safety of people, Traffic department closed down adjacent roads to canal so there was huge traffic congestion occured in sinhagad road, Tilak road, Shastri road. 

Several residential areas were overloaded after a breach occurred in the Mutha right bank canal near Janata Vasahat dwelling near Sinhgad Road in Parvati area on Thursday morning.

Khadakwasla Irrigation department officials said, “We have immediately stopped the water flow from the Khadakwasla dam from where the water is being discharged into the canal and we are working on a war footing to stop the water flow from the canal.”
