Boy loses Rs 2.24L while buying car on shopping site

The accused told Mayur to transfer Rs 2.24 lakh in his bank account. Mayur did so, but did not get the car. Later, he lodged a case of cheating at Wakad police station.

PUNE: A 19-year-old boy who studies in a city college in Pimpri was cheated to the tune of Rs 2.24 lakh after trying to buy a used car on a shopping website.The victim, Mayur Chavan, is a resident of Kalewadi and has lodged a case of cheating at Wakad police station. 

As per information given by the Wakad police, the incident took place between January 21 to 23. The victim had seen an advertisement of a Maruti Swift on sale. He contacted the seller, who identified himself as Tamir Tejkumar from Ahmedabad. The accused told Mayur to transfer Rs 2.24 lakh in his bank account. Mayur did so, but did not get the car. Later, he lodged a case of cheating at Wakad police station.
