Pune: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of Parliament (MPs) Anil Shirole and Sanjay Kakade on Thursday held a day-long fast to protest against the Congress party’s attitude for the budget session washout.

Though it was a protest against the Congress, the MPs criticised the Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) ‘Halla Bol’ agitation. The hunger strike took place near the Sambhaji Garden on JM Road. The hunger strike was observed across the country. Shirole and Kakade, MLA Vijay Kale and some BJP corporators participated in the protest.

The corporators flayed the NCP stir. They said, “The NCP launched the agitation out of frustration. People are not supporting their agitation.”

Shirole said, “We got good response to our hunger strike in the city. Local representatives took part in the strike. The BJP was ready to discuss with the opposition party leaders but they were not in a mood to listen. So, they created obstacles in the budget session.”

Kakade said, “The NCP was in power for 15 years. They didn’t do anything for the people. So, they are now in opposition.”
