There is no chance of bridging the gap between two factions within the ruling BJP in Pimpri Chinchwad.  The factionalism became evident after the new inductees started getting plump posts in Pimpri ChinchwadChinchwad Municipal Corporation. The sources claim that with the help of  MLA Laxman Jagtap and MLA Mahesh Landge, the party has become a strong force in PCMC politics.

The loyalists feel that time and again Landge and Jagtap supporters have been given preference for appointments and nomination on various bodies of PCMC. Old BJP loyalists feel they are being sidelined. The party is trying hard to strike a balance between old and new party workers by giving leader of house post to the old loyalist Eknath Pawar. The loyalists are disgruntled and approached the chief minister. Fadnavis somehow pacified the factions.

This infighting surfaced again at the time of appointment of ward committee members of the PCMC.

However, the party workers went on indefinite hunger strike, alleging that loyalists were left out at the time of selection of ward committee members.

BJP City President MLA Laxman Jagtap failed to convince the BJP leaders who went on a fast. The leaders demanded removal of Jagtap from the post.

The meeting with agitating leaders and Danve was also planned. Finally they decided to withdraw their hunger strike late on Thursday night.
