BJP corporator murdered in Alandi

PUNE: A BJP corporator from Alandi Municipal Council was stabbed to death in broad daylight near Wadmukhwadi on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Balaji Sudhakar Kamble (33), a resident of Dehu Phata. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter, besides his sister and brother.

According to the police, Kamble ran a construction company in partnership. There are 4 to 5 construction sites in Charholi. Around 4 pm, he was going from Bhosari to Alandi on a bike with his friend, when the assailants intercepted them near Sai Mandir in Wadmukhwadi. They came in a car and attacked Kamble with sharp weapons and escaped. Kamble was rushed to YCM Hospital in Pimpri, but he was declared brought dead.

The police said that for the last few days, there was enmity between Kamble and another person from Alandi, and this could have led to the murder.

Local residents said that Kamble earlier worked as a private surveyor in the area. Later, he got training for Gram Sevak. In December 2017, he won the civic election from ward nine of Alandi.
