Based on Rokade’s objection, the committee sought documents from Gaikwad.

PIMPRI: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Kundan Gaikwad is in the dock as the divisional caste verification committee of Buldhana has cancelled his caste certificate.

He is likely to lose his post for failing to submit caste certificate.

He had sought six months for the submission of the certificate. Since his caste certificate has been scrapped, he cannot continue as a corporator.

He got elected as a corporator on a seat reserved for the SC category. He had submitted the caste certificate mentioning his caste as Kaikadi, which falls under DTNT category. He had sought the caste validation certificate from the committee in Buldhana. Nitin Dagdu Rokade took objection to his caste claim as Kaikadi, which falls under DTNT category. Based on Rokade’s objection, the committee sought documents supporting Kundan Gaikwad’s caste. After going through the documentary evidence submitted by Gaikwad, it came to the conclusion that Gaikwad does not belong to the scheduled caste category. Hence, his caste certificate was cancelled.

The committee on Tuesday gave its final order for the cancellation of caste certificate of Gaikwad, who hails from Solapur district. He has also procured government land in Pune claiming that he belongs to Scheduled Tribe caste, which was also brought to the notice of the committee.

The committee has also asked vigilance squad attached to the caste validation committee to initiate action against Gaikwad, besides invoking all benefits he has taken as an SC candidate.

Meanwhile, Gaikwad sought an extension of six months from the election department for submission of his caste certificate, along with five other BJP corporators. However, since his caste claim has been rejected, there is no possibility of him getting a valid caste certificate in six months.
