Pune: BJP corporator Jayant Bhave from Karve Road has registered a complaint against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration in the General Body meeting on Monday and said that the administration misguided corporators regarding the streetlight issue in Karve Road.

Bhave said, “Last week, I saw some people putting yellow plastic paper around the corporation’s LED streetlight in Karve Road. When I asked about it, they told me that it’s for a movie shoot. The movie is set in the British era and hence the dim lights were needed. I asked if they had taken permission from the PMC. A person replied in the affirmative, but when I took the matter up with Electrical Department officials, they were unaware about it and said what’s there if a person does it.”

Mayor Mukta Tilak instructed the administration to clarify on the issue and Ramdas Taru, Head of Electrical Department, said, “No one approached us for permission for a shoot. We will take a review of the matter and let you know.”

Tilak has also expressed concern over the issue and ordered an enquiry into the matter and appropriate action to be taken. Earlier, BJP corproators had openly criticised the administration for not doing any work. BJP party members still don’t know the mechanisms and working system of the PMC and its rules and regulations. They are still in the process of learning and, hence, the administration is not taking them seriously. Most members are newly-elected.
