Woman doctor from Sassoon Hospital files FIR against corporator Aarti Kondhare

PUNE: A woman corporator of the BJP has been booked by Pune city police for allegedly assaulting a woman doctor at the Sassoon General Hospital. The incident took place around the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday.

Dr Snehal Khandagale (26) of Jalna, who is working here as a junior resident doctor, registered an FIR with Bundgarden police station against accused  Aarti Sachin Kondhare, who is a BJP corporator in the PMC from Khadakmal Aali - Mahatma Phule Peth ward.

According to police, Dr Snehal was checking a serious patient in the casualty department’s ward no. 43, when Kondhre walked in shouting. “She asked about two patients and wanted to know who is treating them. I informed her that they have been given primary treatment and there are stitches on the head of one of them. I further informed that he has to be taken for a CT Scan. She was continuously shouting and pressurising to give preference to her patients. There was another serious patient and I began treatment on him. She started asking about my details and threatened to complain against me with Tambe sir. The woman also began clicking my photos and shooting video on the phone. I told her not to click photos or shoot video. When I tried to stop her, she slapped me. A man wearing a white shirt who was accompanying her, took her away while she kept abusing me. Later I came to know that she was Arti Kondhare and the man was Sachin Kondhare,” Khandagale stated in her complaint.

Police officials and those close to Kondhare said that her son had met with an accident, or hit someone in an accident, who was taken to the hospital.

Assistant Police Inspector Jayawant Patil, who is investigating the case, said, “Kondhare is absconding. Our search is on and we will arrest her soon. We are also investigating the case of accident of two persons whom she had gone to meet at Sassoon Hospital.”

Kondhare did not respond to repeated phone calls. A person close to her said, “She had gone to meet two persons who were injured after being hit by a vehicle of her son.”

CHARGES AGAINST THE CORPORATOR
Police have booked Kondhare for offences under sections 353 (obstructing public servant from discharging official duty), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. She has also been charged for offences under the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act.
