Biker booked after pedestrian’s death

Pune: A 55-year-old pedestrian succumbed to injuries after being knocked down by a speeding biker in Chinchwad on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Indar Baliram Kawde of Chikhali. 

Pune: A 55-year-old pedestrian succumbed to injuries after being knocked down by a speeding biker in Chinchwad on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Indar Baliram Kawde of Chikhali. 

Kawde’s friend Raju Bhor (50) lodged an FIR with Nigdi police station against bike rider Dinesh Kulkarni of Morevasti in Chikhali. 
The police said the incident took place at 9.15 am near Bajaj School in Sambhajinagar, Chinchwad. “I and Kawde worked together. We were walking when Kulkarni’s speeding bike hit Kawde. He sustained severe injuries and was undergoing treatment. He succumbed to injuries on Thursday,” Bhor stated in his complaint. 

The police have booked Kulkarni for offences under sections 304a (causing death due to negligence), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
