Reacting to Mohol’s gesture, Suraj Renuse, a member of the mandal, alleged that it was an attempt not to recognise the contribution of Bhau Rangari to the festival.

Pune: The dispute between the Shrimant Bhau Rangari Ganesh Mandal and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) over claiming credit for being the pioneer of the public celebration of Ganesh festival cropped up again during the immersion procession on Tuesday.

Mayor Mukta Tilak, who was on the dais set up by the PMC to felicitate the Ganesh mandals in the procession, got up to perform aarti of the Bhau Rangari Mandal’s Ganesh idol, following an announcement made by senior BJP corporator Gopal Chintal.

However, standing committee Chairman Murlidhar Mohol gesticulated at Bhau Rangari Mandal volunteers to move on.
Reacting to Mohol’s gesture, Suraj Renuse, a member of the mandal, alleged that it was an attempt not to recognise the contribution of Bhau Rangari to the festival. He said that this is depriving Rangari of his identity as the founder of public celebration of the Ganesh festival.
