Pune: Identifying strengths and flaws in oneself is a key to success, said Anil Jathar, an X-ray consultant, at a talk session in ‘Sat@BV’. The session was recently held at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University’s College of Engineering (BVDUCOE).

Sat@BV is the interactive programme arranged for students to have a direct conversation with experts from industry to understand industrial expectations.

“Talk to yourself to find out your strengths and weaknesses. Integrity is crucial for success of a person. It is important that every person should introspect whether the act is as per integrity policy or not. One should have a habit of talking to oneself about finding out flaws as well positives in personality. It doesn’t mean to praise oneself but to introspect and ask questions which will strengthen the strong points and weaknesses can be rectified,” said Jathar.

“Generally, an American manager assigns a task to someone who will be having expertise in the area and get the task done in minimal time. But an Indian manager assigns it randomly. Then the delay is blamed on the person concerned. One must identify strengths of subordinates and implement them in your work for becoming successful,” said Jathar.

“This activity is a step to bridge the gap between industry and academics. Students get first-hand information from an industry expert about his journey and how he overcame his flaws and adopted skills to succeed. Since students will understand these efforts at this stage, it will definitely help them in the long run,” said Principal of BVDU Anand Bhalerao.
