Bapat inaugurates ZP Smart Girl Plus app

Pune: Guardian Minister Girish Bapat on Monday inaugurated the ‘Smart Girl Plus’ mobile application to provide free guidance on different subjects, including health and sanitation, to girls and women.
Pune Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Suraj Mandhare said the ‘Smart Girl’ initiative has been started in the district under which school-going girls are given training through workshops on self-protection and health awareness.

“As the entire programme was implemented only in schools, there was a limitation on the number of beneficiaries. With the help of modern technology, Pune Zilla Parishad created a dedicated mobile application for a noble cause. Through this application, any girl or woman in her household can seek expert advice on different subjects. Girls and women of today’s age have to face a lot of problems in terms of careers, health and education. Those problems lead to family disputes, depression and mental distress. The mobile application will help the girls and women in solving their problems at the right stage, before those problems take a heavy toll on their lives. That is the main objective behind developing this application, which will surpass any limitation on number of users,” added Mandhare.
The app is produced by Creative I Productions, Pune, while it will be maintained by Art of Living Foundation under their CSR initiative. Initially, guidance will be provided on health, diet, education and employment related matters. In the future, it will include topics such as psychology and skill development.

The application is easy to use and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store in two days. In it, one needs to choose the topic pertaining to one’s query and send it by typing an SMS. This query will be forwarded to the respective subject experts through the application and experts will respond through voice note. If the doubt is not resolved then the concerned person can get back to the expert twice. Mandhare assured that the identity and the questions asked will remain confidential.
