Pune: While the terror angle is being probed in the Ahmednagar case in which a bomb meant for Sarhad founder President Sanjay Nahar exploded, the Pune city police has failed to make any breakthrough in four parcel bomb cases between 2015 and 2017.
Pune police officials said their investigation reached a dead end. “There were no leads after reaching the post offices from where they were sent,” said an officer who had probed the cases.
On Tuesday night, a parcel bomb exploded in the office of Maruti Courier Service in Ahmednagar, before it could be delivered to Nahar, who runs educational institutes for students in Jammu & Kashmir as well as North Eastern states.
Ahmednagar police said a probe is underway with the help of Central intelligence agencies including the NIA and the State Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Nashik unit of the ATS has made lead investigation agency and Police Inspector Mahadev Waghmode as investigating officer of the case.
The Ahmednagar police Cyber Cell has obtained CCTV footage of the locality in Maliwada where the courier company's office is located.
A team led by Inspector Dilip Pawar from the Local Crime Branch recorded the statement of Nahar who said he does not suspect anyone in the case.
