Atithya 2019 takes off with global seminar, competitions

Thirty hospitality schools are participating  in the event, including Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland. 

PUNE: AISSMS College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology inaugurated its 11th edition of inter-collegiate competition ‘Atithya 2019’ on Wednesday. 

As a part of the event, an International Seminar on ‘Emerging Careers in Niche Hospitality’ was conducted with eminent hospitality professionals talking about their less travelled career choices. 

Thirty hospitality schools are participating  in the event, including Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland. 

The Chief Guest is Le Meridien, New Delhi, Executive Director and Founder and Managing Trustee of Heritage Transport Museum, Gurgaon, Tarun Thakral. AISSMS office-bearers Malojiraje Chhatrapati, Suresh Shinde, Ajay Patil and Bhagwanrao Salunke, along with Principal Sonali Jadhav, were also present at the inaugural function. 

The keynote address was given by Thakral. The other speakers were Forum Mall Chennai General Manager Umeash Iyer, Consultant and Flair Mixologist Amy Shroff, Home Chef and Entrepreneur  Sajjani Nair, Pune Eats Out Founder Aniruddha Patil and Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland Professor of Culinary Arts John Killen.

On Wednesday, five competitions were held. Industry veterans such as Executive Chef of JW Marriott, Chef Anurag Narsingani, Executive Chef of Conrad, Pune, Chef Pawan Chennam, Duty Manager of Conrad, Pune, Saed Hashemizadeh, Front Office Manager, Courtyard by Marriott, Chakan, Pune, Salma Shaikh judged the competitions.

Culinary Academy of India, Hyderabad, won the first prize. Banarasidas Chandiwala IHMCT, New Delhi was the first runner-up and IHM Bhopal was the second runner-up in Eduvator Overseas-Global Eats. MSIHMCT (Diploma), Pune, won the first prize, MSIHMCTRS, Pune was the runner-up and Jindal School of Hotel Management, Vadodara was the second runner-up in Kareer Krafters-Plight to Delight.
