Assistant police inspector caught taking Rs 1 lakh bribe

Pune: Sleuths from the Pune anti-corruption bureau (ACB) have caught an assistant police inspector for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh through a private person for helping the complainant to get bail.

The arrested inspector has been identified as Mukund Palave of Saswad police station under Pune rural police.

The 34-year-old complainant is accused in a case for offence under section 324 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code. He had applied for bail and the API asked for a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakhs to help him.

Accordingly, the API sent a private person Shrikant Tamhane (29) of Ikhatpur to receive the bribe amount. 

He was caught accepting Rs one lakh at Ikhatpur village bus stop in Purandar taluka on Thursday.
