Pune: A day after a traffic policeman and a father-daughter duo were seen manhandling and thrashing each other on Karve Road, both sides have lodged cross-complaints with Deccan Gymkhana police station.
The incident has been captured on a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera. The man has been identified as Shyam Bhadane, who is husband of a judge posted with the Pune district court.

The incident took place around 12.30 pm at Swatantrata Chowk on Karve Road on Wednesday. Traffic Police Constable Ravindra Ingale was on duty along with his colleague. The traffic constable has alleged that Bhadane jumped the signal. Ingale had taken his licence and asked him to pay a fine through the e-challan machine. After this, the accused tried to snatch his licence and in the melee the bike ran over the policeman’s foot. While trying to save himself, Bhadane pushed them following which Bhadane and his daughter allegedly attacked Ingale.

Based on Ingale’s complaint, cops have booked Bhadane and his daughter for offences under section 353 (obstructing a public servant from discharging his official duty) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On the other hand Bhadane told police that it was Ingale who started the scuffle by hitting him first and trying to snatch the key of his bike. Bhadane alleged that Ingale slapped his daughter. Till late Thursday night, police were recording statement of the girl based on which FIR will be registered. When asked about the charges against Ingale, Senior Police Inspector Ajay Kadam said, “It will be decided based on her statement.”
