Army Chief to deliver Gen BC Joshi Lecture

The Army Chief will speak on the topic ‘India’s Challenges in the Current Geo-Strategic Construct’. The Southern Command Headquarters and the SPPU jointly instituted the annual lecture series in 1995, in the memory of Late General BC Joshi, who was the Chief of Army Staff from July 1, 1993 to November 19, 1994, in recognition of his contribution to higher education and furthering the University-Defence Forces interaction

Pune: Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat will deliver the General BC Joshi Memorial Lecture this year in Pune on Saturday. The lecture will be held at Inter University Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics (IUCAA) Auditorium at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

The Army Chief will speak on the topic ‘India’s Challenges in the Current Geo-Strategic Construct’. The Southern Command Headquarters and the SPPU jointly instituted the annual lecture series in 1995, in the memory of Late General BC Joshi, who was the Chief of Army Staff from July 1, 1993 to November 19, 1994, in recognition of his contribution to higher education and furthering the University-Defence Forces interaction.

General BC Joshi played a significant role in the establishment of a number of institutions under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society. He was instrumental in the raising of Army Institute of Technology in Pune in 1994.

The General Joshi Army Public School at Pithoragarh was established with one of the best infrastructures, in his memory. In 1998, the SPPU named one of its gates in General BC Joshi’s memory. The memorial lecture is held by the university and delivered by the Chiefs of Defence Forces.
