Armed Forces Medical Conference underway

PUNE: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune has organised the 67th Annual Armed Forces Medical Conference and the 57th Armed Forces Medical Research Committee (AFMRC) Meeting from February 5 to 8.

This conference is the largest gathering of Armed Forces medical personnel and the only multi-specialty conference of its kind in the country. 

In its 57th consecutive year, the Armed Forces Medical Research Conference has steadily grown in scope and stature over the years. Medical professionals of the Armed Forces are now collaborating with the leading medical research centres of the country and undertake cutting edge medical research which is of relevance not only within the Armed Forces but also to the society at large.

The four-day conference, organised by AFMC Pune under the overall supervision of Surg Vice Admiral Ravi Kalra, Director and Commandant, will discuss a wide spectrum of professional issues concerning the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). The conference, which is the highpoint of the annual academic calendar of AFMS, was formally inaugurated by Lt Gen Bipin Puri, Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) and Sr Colonel Commandant AMC on Tuesday.

The conference commenced with awards for excellence in academics in post graduate and in-service training courses, which were presented by the DGAFMS. This was followed by a presentation of award winning AFMRC research projects. Other sessions included meetings of the Armed Forces Medical Academic Committee, AFMC Management Committee, MJAFI Governing Council and Governing Council of AFMS (O) Fund.

This year also marks the platinum jubilee year of the Medical Journal Armed Forces India (MJAFI). MJAFI is the official publication of the Armed Forces Medical Services of India and publishes high quality biomedical multispecialty research from doctor scientists across the world on a quarterly basis.
