April begins at unprecedented hotter note for Pune citizens

Pune: Pune recorded day temperature on Thursday at 40.5 degrees Celsius. 

According to the data provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), until 2013, the highest temperature in the month of April was during the month end. 

However, this time, on April 4, the mercury has touched 40.5 degrees Celsius in the city.

Similarly, the highest temperature in the State on Thursday was recorded at Akola at 44 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature in the State was reported at Nanded at 19 degrees Celsius.

Many other cities in Marathwada, Vidarbha and central Maharashtra on Thursday reported day temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Cities in Konkan and Goa also reported day temperature above 32 
degrees.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave conditions as of Thursday evening will not continue after April 5. The Met department has forecast thunderstorm along with squalls at isolated pockets in Vidarbha on April 5. 

National Scenario
Across India, thunderstorm accompanied by squall and lightning at isolated places is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till April 8. 

A thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds and lightning at isolated places is very likely over the states of Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh and Kerala during the same time.
