Anna praises Fadnavis govt

Pune: The Devendra Fadnavis government in the State has done better work as compared to Narendra Modi’s at the Centre, said social crusader Anna Hazare, on Tuesday.

He was in the city to attend a two-day joint sitting of the Joint Drafting Committee for drafting an effective ‘Lokayukta Bill’ in the State.  

The meeting was concluded on Wednesday at YASHADA where Anna discussed the issue with the government representatives.

Appreciating the work done by the Fadnavis government, he expressed confidence that the ‘Bill’ to create an effective ‘Lokayukta Act’ will be passed in the Monsoon Session of the State Assembly. 

Hazare was accompanied by the members of his association including Umesh Chandra Sarangi, Vishambhar Chaudhary, Shyam Asava, Sanjay Pathade. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Law and Justice Department, Rajendra Bhagwat represented the government.

“The Lokpal Act has come into existence at the Centre. We expected the Maharashtra government to implement the same in the State within one year. But it has not happened yet.  However the discussion is underway on drafting an effective Lokayukta Bill in the State,” said Hazare. 

He also expressed hope that the Bill will be introduced in the Monsoon Session and will be passed and implemented soon.

More meetings
As the two-day meeting ended on Wednesday, there were certain issues on which there was unanimous agreement, while on some issues there were disagreements. All these issues will be discussed in the meetings which will be scheduled before the Monsoon Session of the State Assembly for preparing the final draft.
