Angry mob vandalises 10 buses after a person dies in accident

PUNE: Around 10 different buses including those of PMPML were vandalised by an angry mob after a 28-year-old man killed and a 55-year-old man was injured after their two-wheeler was hit by a PMPML bus on Wednesday night near Central Mall on Bund Garden Road.

A case was lodged at Koregaon Park police station against unidentified bus driver who fled from the scene after the incident.

According to Koregaon Park police, Shahbaaz Bagwan (28) and his maternal cousin Isak Bagwan (55) were on a two-wheeler and was heading from Bund Garden towards Yerawada when their two-wheeler was hit by a PMPML bus. While Shahbaaz succumbed to injuries after the incident, Isak suffered multiple injuries.

Following the incident, the locals present there started pelting stones on buses passing by from the area. The incident led to total chaos in the area and traffic jam was also reported. The police said that the incident took place around 9 pm and the mob was brought under control at midnight. People had also stopped traffic movement between Wadia College to Bund Garden. The mob was also irked due to the late arrival of an ambulance to take the victims to the hospital.

The accused was booked under sections of rash driving and Motor Vehicle Act. Police Sub-Inspector Arun Gaud is investigating the case.
