Anandvan holds street play against drug abuse

Pune: Anandvan, the de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, had organised a street play, which was performed by students of Swatantra Theatre on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, at Good Luck Chowk on June 25.

 

Every year, the centre organises a rally and a talk show on the basis of the theme kept by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

 

Pune: Anandvan, the de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, had organised a street play, which was performed by students of Swatantra Theatre on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, at Good Luck Chowk on June 25.

 

Every year, the centre organises a rally and a talk show on the basis of the theme kept by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

 

Ajay Dudhane said, “This year, we kept the campaign for five days, under the theme ‘Listen First’ given by UNODC. This campaign will start from July 25 to 30 at BMCC, MMCC,  Poona College and in some IT companies where presentations, talk show, play, lectures and short films will be shown on effect of consuming drugs and problems faced in daily life.”

“The street play is performed by Swatantra Theatre, which is an open theatre group.”

Talking about the event, Sunil Dorge, PI of Anti Narcotics Cell Pune, said, “This play is arranged especially for youngsters. Because today’s youngsters are engaged in drugs and trafficking more than studies.”

He further said, “Consuming these things won’t reduce the stress in one’s life, It will make it worse, as it can destroy one’s life. Youngsters are the future of the nation. So they should understand what is right and wrong.”
