AICTE directs colleges to conduct SPIC MACAY progs

The AICTE has also directed Pradyumna Dhamangaonkar, Vice-President of College of Engineering Pune’s Gymkhana to reserve funds for organising SPIC MACAY every year. 

Pune: In order to boost and propagate Indian classical art in schools and colleges, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all colleges to conduct the ‘Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth’ (SPIC MACAY) programme. 

The AICTE has also directed Pradyumna Dhamangaonkar, Vice-President of College of Engineering Pune’s Gymkhana to reserve funds for organising SPIC MACAY every year. 

The AICTE has sent letters to all the colleges regarding how the programme should be conducted. 
The SPIC MACAY recently completed 40 years, and the initiative, through its progammes, gives boost to various Indian classical art forms amongst youngsters. 

“The objective of the programme is to inculcate the interest of classical art and culture amongst students from a very young age. All the colleges associated with AICTE should reserve special funds for the programme every year. SPIC MACAY also conducts competitions in classical dance, music and drawing for the school going children in Pune,” Dhamangaonkar said.
