Air India Express has started international cargo export facility from Pune airport to Dubai. The national carrier sent its first consignment of 550 kg of baby corn on Thursday.

Pune: Air India Express has started international cargo export facility from Pune airport to Dubai. The national carrier sent its first consignment of 550 kg of baby corn on Thursday.

“Air India has started international cargo export on Thursday and it is expected to boost international cargo operations from Pune airport,” said an official from the Pune airport.

Suhas Jadhav, Station Manager of Air India at Pune Airport, said, “We have started the international cargo facility and the first consignment of 550 kg of baby corn was sent to Dubai. Also, we will soon start the transshipment service from Pune airport to Delhi and from there, it will be sent to Europe, the USA, Great Britain and other countries.”

Currently, Air India, SpiceJet and Jet Airways operate international flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from Pune airport.
