Agri Tech Fest 2017 to be inaugurated by FM Jaitley

Pune: Agri Tech Fest - 2017 will be held from 10th to 13th September at College of Agriculture, Pune. This fest will be inaugurated on Saturday at 2 pm, in the presence of Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister and Minister of Corporate Affairs, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Pandurang Phundkar, Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar, former Agriculture Minister, and Dr KP Viswanatha, Vice-Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri.
The farmers in the State will have an opportunity to experience the multifaceted agricultural research carried out by Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, at Agri Tech
Fest - 2017.
Agri Tech Fest will exhibit live demonstrations of 74 varieties of 28 different crops like cereals, pulses, oilseed crops and cash crops, 39 varieties of 20 vegetable crops, 46 varieties of 12 flower crops, 24 varieties of 13 fruit crops, 9 indigenous cattle breeds, Phule Triveni cattle breed, 2 buffalo breeds, 7 indigenous and 2 exotic goat breeds, 3 indigenous sheep breeds, indigenous poultry breeds, duck and quail and various agricultural equipment and implements.
The exhibition will also provide an opportunity to observe and understand agricultural technology like drip irrigation system, mushroom production technology, bio-fertilisers, bio-control agents of crop diseases and pests, kitchen/terrace gardening for urban dwellings.
On this occasion, lectures and discussions involving scientists, experts, experienced progressive farmers, on topics of farmers’ interest and concern, are also being organised.
Dr KP Viswanatha has appealed to the farmers of Pune district to visit the campus and take part in the interaction meetings with scientists and progressive farmers from 11th to 13th September. The live demonstrations and exhibition will be very useful for the students of schools and colleges.
Entry to the fest is free for all and the exhibition will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm from 11th to 13th September.
