PUNE: Former president of Pimpri-Chinchwad Bar Association advocate Sushil Mancharkar and his two unidentified accomplices have been booked for attempt to murder after firing at a woman on Saturday in Pimpri.

The 35-year-old woman from Sambhaji Nagar in Pimpri told police that Mancharkar had sent the two men who fired two rounds at her in HA Colony, to force to take back her molestation case against Mancharkar.

An FIR has been registered with Pimpri police station. The firing took place around 12.45 pm when the woman was returning home after buying sweets to distribute after her son passed SSC exam. She had a narrow escape as both bullets missed her.

According to police, a case of molestation was filed against Mancharkar by the woman and her daughter on July 8, 2014, with the Pimpri police station. The woman and her minor daughter had alleged that Mancharkar had molested them in his car on July 8 at around 8.50 pm. The woman had said she and her daughter had accompanied another woman and her son to Mancharkar’s office in Sant Tukaram Nagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad on July 8 at 5.15 pm to discuss a case. After the discussion, when the second woman and her son had left, the lawyer then took the complainant and her daughter to an isolated place, near Vallabhnagar ST stand, and allegedly molested them. The trial of the case is ongoing and he is out on bail.

Mancharkar denied the allegations stating that it is a plot by his political rivals.
