Additional 132 voting centres to be set up for 2019 polls in Pune

As per information given by Deputy Election Officer Monika Singh, the list of voting centres will be shared with political leaders to get their opinions and objections on the same.

PUNE: For upcoming elections in 2019, there will be an addition of 132 voting centres in Pune. Earlier, Pune had about 7,534 centres which have now been increased to 7,666. As per information given by Deputy Election Officer Monika Singh, the list of voting centres will be shared with political leaders to get their opinions and objections on the same. 

Singh said that after the exercise of collecting information on eligible voters it was found that 20,264 voters were newly added and 54,584 voters were deleted from the voters’ list in Pune district. Singh said that in all 71.89 lakh people are eligible voters of which 37.6 lakh are males, 34.2 lakh are females and 117 fall in others category. To promote accessible voting for people with special needs there will be provision for such voters on the ground floor at the voting centres.

The Department of Social Welfare is in process of collecting details of eligible voters with special needs so that the Election Department can plan better to cater to these people on the voting day.
