On March 11, the NGO along with some residents will be holding a protest march

CHINCHWAD: According to a survey by a Chinchwad-based NGO, Thergaon Social Foundation, nine MLD untreated water is being discharged daily into the Pavana river.

Aniket Prabhu, Founder Member of the NGO, said, “At Thergaon, there are four nalas from which untreated domestic water is directly discharged into the Pavana river. Out of these four nalas, one nala discharges nine MLD untreated domestic sewage water into the river, while the other nalas discharge one MLD each of untreated sewage water.”

“Daily we remove truckloads of hyacinth. But that is not the solution. Two months ago, we complained about the issue to the ward officer but the complaint was ignored. We gave them 15 days’ time to stop discharge of untreated water into the river but even that was ignored,” Prabhu added.

Finally, on March 11, the NGO along with some residents will be holding a protest march and a one-day fast in front of PCMC ‘G’ ward office at Thergaon to stop the untreated water discharge and pollution of the river, Prabhu said.
