7 FIRs, 20 noise pollution cases filed against Dahi Handi mandals

Pune: A total of 7 First Investigation Reports (FIRs) and 20 noise pollution cases were registered against organisers of Dahi Handi celebrations on Monday night.

In Budhwar Peth, 15 persons were injured after a stage collapsed during the prize distribution ceremony at 10 pm.
 
An FIR in this regard has been registered with Faraskhana police station against Vijay Shivaji Tarun Mandal’s President Sainath Shantaram Mane, Vice President Shankar Shivaji Bhosale, contractor Datta Helekari and others.

According to the police, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had given permission for four feet wide and six feet long stage but the accused erected a bigger stage, 12 feet wide and 15 feet long, which could not sustain the weight of several people. The stage also created traffic problems.
 
Under Mundhwa police station, two cases were filed. The police charged Akhil Kawde Road Dahi Handi Utsav, Keshavnagar members for creating noise pollution by playing loud DJ music. The case has been registered against Yuvraj Laxman Kawde, Santosh Appa More and Tushar Rajaram Ghiwar. The police seized DJ music system worth Rs 1.4 lakh.
 
Another case was registered against Akhil Ghorpadi Gaon Dahi Handi Utsav, BT Kawde Road. Similar cases were registered in Kothrud and Sahakar Nagar also.
