7 developers show interest in building homes under PMAY

Pune: Seven developers have shown interest in building homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Pune.

The Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) had called for tenders for building homes under the PMAY on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Earlier, the deadline for the same was March 6, which was later extended to April 12.

The government has set a target of building 2.19 lakh homes till 2022 and, hence, they are looking for developers interested in building homes under this scheme.

“A team of five officials including two from Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and three from PMRDA will be evaluating the tenders.

The prices of 50 per cent of the homes under this scheme will be decided by MHADA. The builder will get an FSI of 2.5,” a press release by the PMRDA stated.

PMRDA chief Kiran Gitte said that they have kept a target of building 6,415 houses under the scheme in the first phase.
The PMRDA has also set a ‘housing cell,’ which will look after helping home buyers to get a subsidy under the PMAY scheme.
To facilitate the entire process, PMRDA is also trying to bring customers, banks and builders under a common platform.

Benefits for developers
 PMRDA officials said that seven developers have shown interest and these developers will get the benefit of less stamp duty charges.
 PMRDA will see that facilities of electricity, roads and water are provided to buildings being built under PMAY.
