68-year-old doctor booked for death due to negligence

The Khadki police has booked a 68-year-old doctor after a youth died due to a reaction from an injection during treatment last year. Meena Alhat, the mother of deceased Ashish Rahul Alhat (25) of Range Hills, has lodged the complaint against Dr Pushpa Joshi, a resident of Bhosalenagar.

Pune: The Khadki police has booked a 68-year-old doctor after a youth died due to a reaction from an injection during treatment last year. Meena Alhat, the mother of deceased Ashish Rahul Alhat (25) of Range Hills, has lodged the complaint against Dr Pushpa Joshi, a resident of Bhosalenagar.

According to the police, the incident took place around 8 pm on October 5, 2018 at the doctor’s Joshi Clinic in Range Hills.
 
Ashish had complained of uneasiness following which he was rushed to the clinic. After he was administered an injection, his body turned black and blue resulting in his death. 

Later, the medical reports were sent to Sassoon Hospital expert committee, which opined negligence on part of the doctor. 

Khadki police station has booked Dr Pushpa Niranjan Joshi for the offence under section 304a (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police Sub-Inspector Chhaya Kamble is further investigating the case.
