638 nominations filed for SPPU senate polls

Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) received an overwhelming response from principals and heads of departments (HOD) on the last day of filing nominations for the seats of principals, teachers, HOD in the senate council body.

A total of 638 nominations were filed by the candidates on Thursday.

The nominations were filed for 23 seats of principals, university and college teachers, HOD in senate council body, in addition to six seats in academic council and 183 seats in the board of studies.

Twenty four nominations for three seats of university teachers, 33 for 10 seats of principals, 56 against 10 seats of college undergraduate and postgraduate teachers were filed, while 23 candidates filed for academic council and 502 candidates filed for the board of studies.

“The scrutiny of nominations will be followed according to the statute in the State Public University Act 2016. We have provided training and counselling to staff members who will conduct the process so that it is done flawlessly. Any ambiguity in documents will be investigated thoroughly. The nomination will be cleared if required documents to support the candidates filing are presented,” said Arvind Shaligram, Registrar of SPPU.
