59-year-old killed after being hit by an ambulance

The deceased, Ajit Rane, was crossing the road and was heading towards the Collector’s Office when he was hit by the ambulance driven by Purushottam Dadmal (44).

Pune: A 59-year-old man was killed after he was hit by an ambulance outside Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) near Dr BR Ambedkar Statue at Pune station on Friday. 

The deceased, Ajit Rane, was crossing the road and was heading towards the Collector’s Office when he was hit by the ambulance driven by Purushottam Dadmal (44). According to information given by Police Sub Inspector Tushar Pachpute of Bund Garden police station, who is investigating the case, Purshottam was rushing a patient to SGH when the incident took place. 

“Purshottam, who works for ‘108’ ambulance service, had picked a patient from Hadapsar and was heading towards SGH when he failed to notice Ajit who was crossing the road. As Ajit was quite old, he succumbed to his injuries. We have booked Dadmal for rash and negligent driving in the case and we will soon arrest him,” added Pachpute.
