58-year-old man dies of swine flu, death toll rises to 67 in city

The deceased was a resident of Latur district, who was tested positive for swine flu on June 24. Though he did not have any major illness, he delayed the treatment and hence, lost his life to H1N1.

PUNE: A 58-year-old man succumbed to swine flu on Saturday, taking the death toll in the city to 67, said the health department of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). 

The deceased was a resident of Latur district, who was tested positive for swine flu on June 24. Though he did not have any major illness, he delayed the treatment and hence, lost his life to H1N1.

This is the 48th death of a patient due to swine flu, who did not belong to the city. 

Currently, 10 patients are on ventilator. On Monday, 2,951 patients were screened for swine flu and 87 were administered Tamiflu tablet. Four swab samples were sent for testing and two were found positive.

Since January 4, 48,790 patients have been screened for H1N1 and 8,296 have been given Tamiflu tablets. 

Swab samples of 1,406 patients have been sent for testing and 337 have been tested positive. So far, 255 patients have been discharged after their recovery.
