55 students get free-loan scholarships

Pune: Around 55 students aspiring to pursue higher education abroad received free-loan scholarships from Sakal India Foundation on Monday. They received Rs 60,000 from Chairman of Sakal Media Group, Pratap Pawar in the presence of S Padmanabhan, Vice President of Sakal India Foundation,  the foundation’s secretary Dr AS Kalgaonkar and treasurer Ramesh Bodke, besides others.

The students stated that this initiative has boosted and motivated them to achieve more in their career. “No help can be termed as small or big. This help gives us huge support while we are stepping into a big world. When we decide to go for a higher education, it becomes a tough call thinking about financial status and many other things, getting such help certainly empowered me,” said Chinmay Mahabal.

Another recipient, Gautami Jagtap, who has been receiving free-loan scholarships from Sakal India Foundation since she was in Std X, said, “This foundation has remained by my side for six years. While we take steps towards achieving our career there are times when we stop. It is then that such initiatives boost our morale and allow us to continue. I am thankful to the foundation for supporting me whenever I needed,” said Jagtap, who is going for MS in Information and Technology.

Meanwhile, Pawar stated that children must move to foreign countries to gain better quality education, but they should also return to the country to empower the nation. “We have often seen many students who have gone abroad to study and settled there. I understand students get quality education and definitely one must look higher to achieve better in a career. But it must be your responsibility to return to the country and share your knowledge to improve the educational system to make the nation powerful. It is also necessary to understand inner strengths and ability and what one wants to pursue in life. This helps you to hold onto your dreams till the end,” said Pawar.
