Pune: Under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana, 3.39 lakh farmers from Pune district will get benefits of loan waiver worth Rs 2,030 crore. The district administration has made arrangement for farmers to fill up forms at 850 centres including Mahaonline, SETU and Sangram centres, said District Collector Saurabh Rao.

Rao said that to ensure that all eligible farmers get benefits under this scheme, the government has prepared an elaborate procedure. Under this process, the farmers will be asked to record their biometric scan while filling up forms seeking loan waiver. He said that these forms will be linked with their Aadhaar number.

To record biometric scans of farmers, the State government has provided additional 600 machines, Rao said that these are in addition to 250 machines that the district administration already has with them. The district administration began the process of registration of farmers since Monday.

Mammoth task
† Around three lakh farmers have accounts with Pune District Central
Co-operative (PDCC) Bank and remaining 39,000 farmers have accounts with nationalised banks.
† The administration has to complete the registration in 30 days, which means every day 11,000 farmers should be registered.
† However, so far only 1,000 farmers per day are being registered.
