PUNE: Students and parents were seen going to colleges, filling forms and getting their queries solved from the officials at the colleges across the city as the first round of admissions for Std XI (FYJC) under the online Centralised Admission Process (CAP) began on Tuesday.

After the first merit list for FYJC CAP was declared on Monday night, the admissions at the allotted colleges are open from July 11 to 13 at the colleges. Around 3,141 students out of those who were allotted the colleges in the first merit list took admissions at colleges across the city on the first day of admission.

Those who have been allotted a college that was their first preference in the list need to take admissions at that particular college compulsorily. Also, the facility of provisional admissions has been discontinued this year.

While the admissions went smoothly on Tuesday, there are two more days when the students, who have been allotted colleges from their preference list numbers 2 to 10, can either take admission at the college allotted to them or wait for the second merit list that will be out on July 20.

Meanwhile, students can also change the colleges in their preference list.

Sharvari Medhekar who had come to take admission at Fergusson College for Science stream said that she found the whole admission process quite smooth and easy. “The whole process was simple and we were informed of what all we need to do at each stage. Until now, I haven’t encountered any problem. Even here at college, they guided us very well about how to fill the online form.”

Simran Solkar, a student who had come to Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, was disappointed as she was not allotted any college in the first list. “I applied through the OBC quota and was sure that I will get admission in the first round itself. Now, I haven’t, so I will be waiting for the second list,” she said.
