3 students killed in E-way mishap

Pune: Three students died while two others sustained serious injuries when their car rammed into a truck near Khalapur on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway on Tuesday. All of them hailed from Mumbai and were coming to Pune when the accident took place.

The deceased have been identified as Faizan Mohammed Shaikh (19) of Kurla, Sweda Dubey (17) of Thane and Shraddha Maurya (18). The injured students are Rizwan Chaudhary and Nilesh Thakur.

According to the Khalapur police, the incident took place around 9.45 am. “The car was travelling at high speed and hit the truck from behind. Two of them died on the spot, while the third person succumbed to the injuries later,” said Police Inspector Jamil Shaikh from Khalapur police station.
