3 burglars held with ornaments and car

Pune: The officials from Crime Branch unit 2 of Pune city police have nabbed a gang of three burglars and seized stolen ornaments worth Rs 2.66 lakh and a car worth Rs 2 lakh.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gajraj Motilal Verma (30), a native of Madhya Pradesh, Gore alias Ganesh Rati Rana (27) from Nepal and Narpatsingh Poonamsingh Rajput of Rajasthan, all residing at Hinjewadi. According to police, Verma has 23 cases of thefts, while Rana has 13 and Rajput has seven cases registered against him.

On July 1, a patrolling team of the crime branch found them moving around on Sinhgad Road area in a car suspiciously and when the vehicle was checked, equipment used for burglaries like cutter, etc, were found.

“The accused persons were taken into custody and questioned. They confessed to have committed burglaries in Hinjewadi, Sinhgad Road and Uttam Nagar areas. They led us to their rented accommodation in Hinjewadi from where we seized 92 grams ornaments worth Rs 2.66 lakh. We have also seized the car used in the crime,” DCP (crime) Pankaj Dahane said. ACP Suresh Bhosale and Police Inspector Satish Nikam guided the investigation team.
