The trio fled from the spot after assaulting the cop

Pune: A police constable was assaulted by three vegetable vendors while he was doing ‘bandobast’ duty in Kalyani Nagar on Monday.

The complainant who is a police constable with Yerawada police station was assaulted while performing ‘bandobast’ duty in wake of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visit to the city on Monday.

According to the complainant, the police constable was on the ‘bandobast’ duty on the route between Aga Khan Bridge to Pune airport for the safe passage of the VVIP convoy. He was stationed at Adlabs Chowk in Kalyani Nagar. While performing his task to facilitate the safe passage of convoy, he asked three vegetable vendors to remove their carts and they assaulted him.

The trio fled from the spot after assaulting the cop. They are yet to be identified. 

A case under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty ) and 332  (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of IPC has been registered against the offenders.
