Pune: Three persons, including two women, were arrested by the Yerawada police for the assault and harassment of a 7-year-old special child by authorities of CP Goenka International School.
Those arrested were identified as Kumar Mahamunkar (30) of Yerawada, Jansita Wilson (42) of Kharadi and Shalina Adtani (32) of Kalyani Nagar.
An FIR of cheating and assault was registered on March 19 at Yerawada police station against 12 persons, including trustees, teachers and other staff, of CP Goenka International School.
They were accused for harassing the boy physically, mentally and emotionally by not providing him proper facilities after payment of school fees. The incident took place between April 11, 2017 and September 27, 2017 at the premises of the school near Aga Khan Palace on Nagar Road.
The police have also booked trustees of school, including Sandeep Goenka and Archna Goenka, on the basis of complaint filed by the victim’s mother, a resident of Dhanori. Out of the 12 accused, three have been arrested.
Pravin Deshmukh, Police Sub-Inspector, Yerwada police station, said, "We have arrested the three accused and are searching for the remaining ones. We are going to arrest them soon. We have initiated our investigation and will reach to a conclusion soon."
The accused have been charged for offences under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 311 (punishment), 323(punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years, by parent or person having care of it), 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) and Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act and Right to Education Act.
