27-yr-old woman biker killed in hit-and-run near Hinjewadi

Pune: A 27-year-old woman working at a multinational company in Hinjewadi Phase I died after her motorcycle was allegedly hit by a vehicle on Thursday morning, at Laxmi Chowk on Marunji Road, near Hinjewadi.

The deceased was identified as Pratibha Mohan Tambe. Her father, Mohan Tambe has lodged a case. According to Hinjewadi police, Pratiba was working in Hinjewadi Phase I and staying in Thergaon and would use the route to reach her office. On Thursday morning, while she was on her motorcycle, a Yamaha Fazer, she was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Police Sub-Inspector D Nikam of Hinjewadi police station, who rushed to the spot, said that Pratibha was wearing a helmet and did not die due to head injuries. “Her autopsy report stated that she died due to liver and heart damage. She was taken to a private hospital in Hinjewadi Phase I, but could not survive,” added Nikam.

Hinjewadi police said that they are in the process of identifying the vehicle that hit her. A case under Motor Vehicles Act is lodged against an unidentified person. Police collected statements from some passers-by, but as there was a large number of vehicles on the road, nobody could tell which vehicle hit Pratibha’s two-wheeler. Police are trying to look for more clues. Police said that she was working in the company for the past one year.
