22-yr-old attacked by group over old rivalry

Pune: A 22-year-old youth was attacked over an old rivalry, by a group of six youngsters, with a sharp edged weapon, on Saturday evening at Hadapsar. A case has been registered at Hadapsar police station by the family of the victim.

The accused were identified as Tejas Modak, Pranav Modak, Akshay Bodhle, Dahiryasheel Bhadle, while two were unidentified, all residents of Hadapsar. The six of them attacked Shrikant Tupe, a resident of Hingneaali in Hadapsar.

According to the Hadapsar police, the victim and the six accused were at loggerheads. They were involved in a physical assault on each other in the past as well. However, on Saturday, Tupe, with a few other friends, went to meet the accused to resolve the enmity between them, but during the meeting, the accused attacked him with a chopper on his head.

Satish Umre, Assistant Police Inspector, Hadapsar police station, said, “The victim has received severe injuries. After attacking the victim, all six accused fled the spot. We have started our investigation and will get hold of them soon.”

Hadapsar police have booked all six under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC.
