2 minors held; 20 stolen bikes seized

The police detained two boys near Bird Valley Garden with a stolen two-wheeler. During questioning, the two boys admitted having stolen more bikes and led the police to the other stolen vehicles.

PUNE: Sleuths from Nigdi police station have detained two minor boys and recovered as many as 20 stolen bikes, totally worth Rs 7.33 lakh, from their possession. The police said that cases regarding the bike thefts were registered with nine police stations in the city.

After a spate of bike thefts was reported in Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, Nigdi police formed a special team to solve these cases. Acting on credible information received by policemen Farooq Mulla, Nitin Bahirat and Zameer Tamboli, the police detained two boys near Bird Valley Garden with a stolen two-wheeler. During questioning, the two boys admitted having stolen more bikes and led the police to the other stolen vehicles.

The investigation team for this case was led by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Palsule and Inspector (Crime) Shankar Awtade of Nigdi police station.
