2 minors, 1 woman rescued from prostitution racket

Pune: The Social Security Cell (SSC) of Pune city police Crime Branch on Friday rescued two minor girls and a woman, who were forced into prostitution at a lodge in Hadapsar. A woman agent and the lodge manager has been arrested.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint raid was conducted at the Saurabh Sangam Lodge, Handewadi-Hadapsar road, by officials from the The Social Security Cell, Hadapsar police station and an NGO Rescue Foundation.
Police officials said that Rs 16,500 cash, one mobile phone and other materials were seized from the lodge during the raid. The rescued girls and woman have been given shelter at Rescue Foundation’s shelter home in Hadapsar.

The arrested accused have been identified as Manager Yasin Ibrahim Saheb (36), a native of Kapu, Udupi, in Karnataka, and agent Shabana Ilahi Dakhani (30) of Kondhwa. An FIR has been registered against them with Hadapsar police station for offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).  

Investigation team included Inspector Manisha Zende, API Anita Khedkar, PSI Yogita Kudale and Namdev Shelar, Rajaram Ghogare, Pramod Mhetre, Nitin Londhe, Tushar Alhat, Sunil Naik, Revansidh  Narute, Kavita Nalawade, Gitanjali Jadhav, Supriya Shewale, Anuradha Thombare, Roopali Chandgude and Sachin Shinde.
